Wheel House Alloys

Warranties, Disclaimer and Terms

At Wheelhouse Alloys we pride ourselves on the quality of the materials we use and the techniques we employ. In the unlikley event that there is an issue with your wheels immediately after refurbishment we will endeavour to rectify this. We will not rectify problems cleary caused by damage / wear and tear or inappropriate cleaning products.

Wheel House Alloys Terms and Conditions

Alloy Wheel Refurbishing

Alloy Wheel refurbishment is exactly what it says. We are refurbishing and making good a used and often damaged, scratched, kerbed, or gouged wheel. it is important to understand you are not buying a new wheel, although it will look almost as good for a fraction of the cost! (As a rule of thumb a refurbished wheel is about a tenth of the cost of a new alloy wheel!) Our technicians will do their very best to achieve the best finish they can but inevitably a refurbished alloy may not look 100% perfect. We can work magic not miracles!

At WHEELHOUSE it is often only possible to establish the true condition of a wheel after the wheel has been through the paint stripping process. If found to be in a “very poor condition” (in some cases this may mean the wheels are unsuitable for refurbishment) you will be informed of any additional work and costs before additional work commences and also of any additional time and associated costs this may incur. We reserve the right to refuse to work on wheels that are excessively damaged or corroded or deemed to be unsafe.

Examples of poor condition include; Excessive/advanced areas of corrosion, excessive and or deep rim or spoke damage, poor wheel casting/alloy composition, damage to wheel nut holes and hub surface due to previous improper wheel removal/fitting, previous refurbishment or repair (Welding etc), cracks or bends.

Timescales

Customers should appreciate that the time to complete the work for the wheels will depend on the condition of the wheels. Any unforeseen circumstances may result in a time delay. Customers will be contacted as soon as it is evident that the wheels will take longer to refurbish than initially estimated. We will endeavour to complete the work within the time stipulated but cannot be held responsible for mechanical breakdown or power failure resulting in delays beyond our control

Colour Matching

When applying a painted finish and lacquer or powder coat colour to a wheel we will endeavour to colour match as close as possible to the customers request or to the other wheels. An exact match may not always be possible and the finished result will be subjective. To avoid this, we strongly recommend all four wheels are painted and lacquered or powder coated at the same time (all the wheels will be painted with the same paint and cured in identical conditions and timings) Or at the very least both wheels on one side are painted Customers should be aware that some high gloss finishes show blemishes more easily. Should a customer request a ‘show wheel’ or ‘blemish free as new wheel’ additional charges will apply, calculated on extra labour and materials.

Diamond Cutting

Alloy wheels manufactured with a diamond cut finish can usually be cut another 2, occasionally 3 times. The diamond cutting process removes layers of metal with a precision CNC lathe machine. The amount removed is determined by the degree of kerb and spoke damage. Some Alloys may not be suitable for diamond cutting due to previous repair or due to severe/deep damage that would require excessive cutting, potentially weakening the wheel or resulting in a significant change in the face profile of the wheel. Diamond cutting can change the profile of the wheel and spokes slightly so customers should be aware that a cut wheel will differ slightly to a new wheel and the more cuts that are made, the more noticeable the difference. It may not be possible to determine if a wheel can be cut until the wheel has been seen and checked to make sure there are no bends or buckling in the rim. If our technicians do not think a cut is advisable, or if when cutting it becomes apparent that Diamond Cutting is not suitable, or if the required cutting depth proves to be too low, we will advise the customer by phone or email immediately with a supporting photograph if necessary. We will advise the best course of action so that the customer can decide how they wish to proceed.

It is important to highlight that there are varying degrees of quality in alloy casting in OEM and aftermarket wheels; sometimes the quality of the cut finish can only be determined after the cut. We accept no responsibility for any imperfections in the alloy after Diamond Cutting.

Cracks and Bend Repairs

If an alloy wheel has a crack we will advise the customer if, in our opinion, it can be safely mended with a TIG weld repair. If the crack is severe or there is more than one crack we would recommend condemning the wheel on safety grounds. We use a penetrating dye to visualise the crack often revealing the true extent of the crack beyond the crack that can be seen before the dye is applied. Often a wheel that has been cracked, usually after abnormal impact forces, it will be bent as well. We will check all cracked wheels for evidence of distortion/buckling. If we identify a bend as well as a crack you will be informed of the additional work and cost required before we undertake this additional work. If an alloy wheel has a bend or buckle we will advise the customer if, in our opinion, it can be straightened and re-balanced safely. It is important to note that if a wheel has been subjected to abnormal loads and forces sufficient to bend it, the reverse process to straighten the bend can cause the wheel to crack. Should this happen you will be informed before any additional repair work is undertaken and the cost it will incur. Because of the unpredictability of safety repair work it is undertaken at the customers own risk. If the wheel becomes ‘beyond repair’ during the repair process or we deem the wheel to be unsafe and we advise condemning the wheel it is not the responsibility of WHEELHOUSE alloys to replace the wheel. Cracks and bends to the face of the wheel can be un-repairable in most circumstances. As much as we endeavour to repair every wheel, cracks on the spokes of the wheel are deemed un-safe to fix as it forms part of the supporting structure of the wheel and we will refuse to weld these particular cracks. We advise our customers that a repair to a crack or bend is just that, a repair, not a new wheel and customers are advised to replace a repaired wheel with a new alloy wheel as soon as practical. We do not offer any warranty or guarantee for bend or crack repairs.

Wheel Nuts and Locking Wheel Nuts

ALL VEHICLES MUST BE SUPPLIED WITH THE LOCKING WHEEL NUT!

WHEELHOUSE alloys will not be held responsible for any damage to locking wheel nuts /bolts or adapters. On the rare occasion damage may occur during the removal or refitting of previously over-tightened nuts and bolts (Usually after the wheel nuts or bolts have been over tightened with an impact wrench or extension bar!) We will endeavour to remove damaged items. Any additional parts and time will be charged to the customer. WHEELHOUSE alloys will tighten all wheel nuts and bolts to the recommended vehicle torque setting. We advise all customers to RE-CHECK AND TIGHTEN all wheel bolts after approximately 50 miles. If you are unable to check or are not confident to do so we will be happy to help if you bring the vehicle back. Please note if an alloy wheel is fitted to a vehicle with a spacer we accept no liability for the correct fitting of the wheel due to the uncertainty of the suitability of the supplied bolt lengths, bolt condition and required torque setting. Fitting an alloy wheel with a spacer is entirely at the customers own risk. We would recommend the customer makes their own arrangement for re-fitting of the alloy wheel with a spacer.

Tyres and Valves

WHEELHOUSE alloys reserves the right not to re-fit damaged, dangerous or illegal tyres. We can supply and fit replacement tyres upon request and it is a sensible and convenient time to replace tyres if they are worn. You can supply new tyres to be re-fitted after your wheels have been refurbished or we can source them for you. Tyre disposal is charged for. Please talk to a member of the team for more information.

At WHEELHOUSE alloys we supply and fit new rubber valves, valve cores and black plastic caps on all alloys that have had their tyre removed without exception as part of the tyre removal and re-fitting service. We will reuse special valve caps where present at the time of tyre removal. Any other valves e.g. metal valves, custom made, hidden/stubby rubber valves, classic valves etc. we recommend you make your own arrangement for removing and replacing the tyres and valves or we will supply and charge for these if requested to do so.

TPMS (Tyre pressure monitoring system)

WHEELHOUSE alloys will not be held responsible for any damage caused during removal of the tyre to the TPMS valves or sensors due to excessive corrosion or seized parts. If at the time of tyre removal the TPMS valves are found to be in poor condition the customer will be informed and charged for new snap in or bolt in valves when the tyre is re-fitted. We will ensure all bolt-in valves are tightened to the correct torque setting.

Some vehicles have a 'self learning' facility to code/recode removed or replaced tyre pressure sensors, (Please refer to your vehicle handbook to re-calibrate the TPMS) other vehicles may need to be re-programmed through the vehicle dealership. WheelHouse alloys will not be held responsible for coding/recoding of tyre pressure sensors.

Please note that WHEELHOUSE alloys accepts no responsibility for air leaks from old TPMS valves that are refitted at the owners request and that tyre removal, valve replacement and tyre re-fitting will be at the owners expense.

Center Caps

Don’t forget your centre caps! Re fitting old, damaged, tired centre caps can detract form the ‘new’ look of a refurbished wheel. We offer a range of replacement centre caps that can complement your newly refurbished wheels. Talk to one of the team who can advise you on the options available.

Jacking and Axle Stands

Where a customer’s vehicle is jacked up or put on axle stands while alloy wheels are being worked on we will place jacks and axle stands at the manufactures recommended jacking points on the vehicle. Where vehicles are jacked or on axle stands on owners property WHEELHOUSE alloys will not be responsible for any damage to the vehicle, surroundings or persons that may occur while a vehicle is on jacks or axle stands. We strongly advise against opening or closing the doors on a vehicle including the boot and bonnet while on jacks or axle stands. DO NOT ALLOW ANY PERSON OR CHILD to enter or climb in or out or under the vehicle, while on jacks or axle stands as this could unbalance the vehicle risking severe injury and damage to the vehicle. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE while it is on jacks or axle stands.

Split Rims

WHEELHOUSE alloys are happy to refurbish split rims but due to the complexities and difficulties often associated with dismantling and refitting split rims after the refurbishing process we recommend discussing the options with you once we have seen the wheels. It is important to note that usually when dismantling split rims we identify seized or damaged bolts that can be difficult to remove and therefore unavoidably damaged when removing them incurring additional time and cost that will be charged to you. We accept no responsibility for damage to the tyres, bolts and valves during the dismantling process. We recommend that all split rims are replaced with new bolts and valves Please note that recommendations regarding suitability for refurbishment, dismantling and reassembly of split rims vary between manufacturers. It is your sole responsibility to check suitability with the manufacturer.

Payment terms and collection

Vehicles/wheels will not be released until payment is made in full. Vehicles not collected on the agreed collection date will be subject to a late collection fee of £25.00 per night for vehicles left in our charge overnight beyond the arranged date for colection. Loose wheels that are not collected within 14 working days will result in a storage fee of £10.00 per day from day 14 (day 1 being the day the wheels were refurbished or not refurbished and the customer notified of their availability for collection). Wheels still not collected after 28 days, if unpaid or paid for, will be sold to recoup costs incurred.

Unforeseen Circumstances

Please be advised, any unforeseen issues can affect the overall finish to the alloy wheel. Although we aim to produce the best finish possible, this can be limited by the condition of the wheel. This includes hidden cracks, excessive corrosion, poor quality casting, buckles, previous repairs and previous diamond cutting. These problems may only become apparent after the alloys have been stripped of the current paint or powder coating layers. In these instances customers will be advised in advance of any further work to rectify any issues, along with photographic evidence where possible. Extensive damage may have to be rectified by welding and re straightening which will incur additional costs and time. Customer will be made aware of this before any work is then carried out. Ethically, a repair must be undertaken for vehicle safety. Please be aware that we will not repair wheels that we believe will be unsafe, seriously damaged or the wheels structural integrity is compromised. Wheelhouse has full liability insurance, our indemnities will cover your vehicle while in our care. we do not accept responsibility for alloys that are stolen as a result of a break in, burglary or vehicle theft. If any transporting damage occurs to customers alloys, Wheelhouse will cover the cost of repair. Once the alloys wheels are safely fitted to your vehicle, all customers must be fully covered by their own insurance. WHEELHOUSE alloys accepts no responsibility for goods or personal belonging left in your vehicle and we recommend all, personal items and valuables are not left in the vehicle.
